Why DCC?

Why Dobler College Consulting?

What we believe

College is a match to be made, not a prize to be won and therefore students should not restrict their search to only one college, or select group of colleges, trying to find that one perfect match. Done right, the college search process excludes rankings and the idea that a more selective college is the "best" college. While many Dobler College Consulting students are great matches for some of the most selective colleges in the country, such a match is not right for everyone. Each student deserves the opportunity to find the colleges that fit them well and it is our goal to help them do just that.

What we do

With over 2,000 colleges and universities in the United States, the college admissions process can become rather stressful and overwhelming. The tasks are endless: researching colleges, planning and preparing for tests, writing essays, completing applications, filling out financial aid forms – there is always something to be done. As independent college advisors, our role is to remove the stress from the process and help you and your student enjoy what should be one of the most memorable experiences you will share. We empower our students and challenge them to own their college search focusing on fit - academic, social and financial, rather than on brand names or meaningless rankings.

How we do it

While every student’s path to college is different, one thing is the same: it is a student centered process. The student should be the one doing the work and making decisions while we provide advice and guidance. We make no guarantees of admission to any college.

Dobler College Consulting adheres to the ethical principles set forth in the IECA Principles of Good Practice, and the HECA Code of Conduct for Individual Consultants. As members of both organizations, Eric and Lynne feel that it is incredibly important that ethics and honesty drive the decision-making process.

Who we work with

The students we work with sometimes have taken five AP courses, sometimes none.  They are athletes, budding artists and musicians. Sometimes they have flawless GPA's and other times they think they are just “average” and may not have many college options. Ultimately, we work with students and families who want and need our help. Many families also assume that independent college advisors are only for the rich – we pride ourselves on providing accessible and affordable college counseling services that can accommodate any budget.

At the same time, while we prefer to start working with students late in their sophomore year, what is most important is that we start working together when the student is ready to fully invest themselves in the process. Sometimes this is midway through junior year while other times it’s as late as September of senior year.

And if you don’t live locally, don’t let that be a worry. We're in a technological age and, between email, online video conferencing software like Zoom and Skype, and screen sharing programs, there are so many easy and convenient ways to get our work done. In fact, we even use these methods at times with local students simply because of the convenience for them.

If you have any concerns at all about the level of support and guidance your son or daughter will receive as they embark on one of the biggest decisions of their lives, you should contact us today for a FREE consultation. Other families have, and they'll tell you just how much of a difference Dobler College Consulting has made for them.
